Introduction
Let's Get This Show On The Road
Yes, it's time to get started. The number one priority for this instruction manual is to get you started out on the right foot from the very beginning. I'm not going to waste a whole lot of time trying to make this an exercise in stock market terminology, although I will cover what's necessary.
I'll cover all the day-to-day trading basics that you'll need to get yourself up and running. Let me be right up front about one thing. Once you get started, you'll need to keep yourself informed about all the different and sundry aspects of the stock market. You can't just buy any old stock and then sit back and wait for your ship to come in. Ships sometimes sink!
You've got to keep yourself educated and informed. It does not take a lot of time. There's plenty of information available in the major stock market newspapers and monthly market magazines. One good newspaper and a few good magazines can go a long way toward keeping you informed.
I cannot stress enough the importance of having a computer. I waited un- til I was in my mid-forties to get my first one. It was probably the best thing I've ever done. You do not need a computer to trade stocks, but I can just about guarantee you that using one .. will improve your results.
The information that is available online via your computer is nothing short of astounding. Good timely information, is a driving force and major factor in the game plan of every successful investor. Here's the bottom line ..... Go get yourself a computer, period! You'll be glad you did. End of story.
Once you've gotten yourself a computer go ahead and sign-up for one of the major online service providers. Every new computer comes with a few diskettes or CD-Roms for AOL, Microsoft Network, Prodigy, CompuServe, and two or three others. There is no shortage of information providers.
You'll never regret making the decision to get yourself a computer. You need to level the playing field as much as possible. Most investors and traders have a computer. Make sure that you have the same advantage. Never limit yourself when it comes to having good current information.
